WOW!
The support and interest in our auction have been mind boggling! We are completely overwhelmed by it all.
We are in the process of declaring winners, which has turned out to be trickier than we imagined! But we are plugging away at it and we'll get it done. :) Please just remember that we are volunteers and are doing our best and still have other things to get done (i.e. work, families, etc.)
Stay tuned to see what else we have on the go! And once again....
Sandy Cove Development Project
...so everyone can enjoy the best kept secret on the Burin Peninsula!

Updates!
Hi folks,
Just a little update on our progress/plans!
We have a new fundraiser on the go....another 50/50 draw; I think we keep going back to those because they're just so successful! Let's face it....Margaret can sell tickets to anyone! lol
The tickets will be drawn at the St. Patrick's Day concert on March 10th!! Come on and bring the whole family...you can't lose! Family friendly, HILARIOUS skits, wonderful singers, and a chance to win a bunch of money. Sounds like a time to me!
We are also planning an online auction! We are completely overwhelmed by the response from businesses and people in this area.....wait until you see the things we've had donated! It will likely take me several days to get it all set up. The auction will be on Facebook...I will post the link here when it's all done and you can bid on whatever you like...and there will be lots of things to tickle your fancy!
We have some more plans for Sandy Cove this summer. :) We listened to your comments and opinions last year and we plan to add some outhouses and change rooms. We also are going to do some brush cutting to widen the trail to Sandy Cove and add some more culverts in some areas. We're hoping to add a bunch of new picnic tables as well. As always, we're open to ideas, so if you see something you would like to see in Sandy Cove or a better way of doing something, please let us know!

Fall fun!
When I think of Sandy Cove, I mostly think of swimming and camping. Those are my favorite things to do in Sandy Cove!
But it can be so much more than that! Fall offers lots of things to do in Sandy Cove as well!
It's a beautiful place to go for a hike, for a boil up (also one of my favs...there's nothing like a cup of tea outdoors, is it?) or just to watch the waves! Sandy Cove has to be one of the world's most peaceful places. September and October are two of the nicest months in regards to weather in this area!
The colors this time of year are breathtaking!!
You can also pick berries or bird watch. You can find out more about the manx shearwater here . It's a photographers dream...so many wonderful displays of nature's beauty!
Whatever you choose to do here, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!! Don't forget to leave us a little message in the guest book or post a picture/message on our Facebook page...your comments will help us secure funding for the future if we show that people are using it!!

Make your mark!
Hey everyone....
Just a little update. As Margaret posted on Facebook (if you haven't found us on Facebook, our page is called Sandy Cove Beach, Lord's Cove, NL), we now have a guest book and a donation box!!
The guest book is located at the little cattle trap next to the parking pad in Sandy Cove. It's important to sign your name and leave a little comment in the book; the guest book shows that people are using and enjoying Sandy Cove, which can help us secure future government funding! It's fun to look through as well...there have been visitors from all kinds of different places; Grand Bank, Burin, New York, Ontario, Texas, El Salvador, Korea!! It's pretty amazing and has made us super proud!
Also, if you loved your visit to Sandy Cove, you might like to leave us a donation....no set amount, whatever you can give is greatly appreciated! There will always be things to repair or fix up and your generosity will make that possible!! The donation box is located just below where the pavement ends and the gravel trail begins. We discussed it, at length, and all agreed that it was a good idea to put it there so it's easy to empty everyday and it's in view of several homes so hopefully it will deter anyone who might be up to mischief.
Stay tuned to our blog for any updates or future fundraisers...and thank you so much for all your support!

Go enjoy it!!!
So...I've been pretty lax in updating our blog. Shame on me, but there have been lots of developments lately...lots of "busy"ness (is that a word? 😊 ) both with the Sandy Cove Development Project and personally. I have lots to report.
The repairs to the trail started a few weeks ago and are actually complete now!! YAY! The washed out section is completely repaired with 4 fancy new culverts that cost a fortune...but will do exactly what we want them to do...funnel water under the reconstructed trail and not over it! This is a before pic. Those are the old culverts!
Here is a picture of the newly constructed trail....
We also have new ditching (badly needed), the bigger potholes filled in, more space for parking, new picnic tables, new signage, a trail to the closest point to view the ecological reserve and the pasture fence is being repaired so the cows won't have access to the beach anymore.
Please keep in mind that the trail is exactly that...a trail. It's a little rough, but much improved. I've been down there in my mother's little Chevy Aveo and had zero trouble. 😊
Also, this committee isn't just going to dissolve now that the work is complete. We will continue to fund raise, albeit on a smaller level, because the trail is going to need work in the years to come. We've gone to a lot of trouble to get this done...I'm sure I speak for the committee when I say, we won't see our hard work and persistence go to waste!
In short, we've made Sandy Cove accessible again and a little more user friendly, which was our whole objective! We don't want to change Sandy Cove...it's perfect! We simply wanted people to enjoy it again.
So...go enjoy it!!

Chase the Ace!!
Chase the Ace has been one of our biggest, and certainly the most on-going fundraiser for the Sandy Cove Development Project! It has also been the most successful fundraiser! :) Look at the jackpot for today!!
We are so pleased that it has been going so well and very happy that even more people are starting to play!!
This fundraiser is a joint effort and not only are you supporting the Sandy Cove Development Committee but the Lord's Cove Recreation and the Hall Committee as well. The 50/50 draws also support the Church, the Parish and the Pond Road Paving Project!! This fundraiser is helping so many committees do the work that needs to be done in the community and we applaud your loyalty and generosity!!! We certainly couldn't do it without you!!
I know I haven't updated the fundraiser ticker in a while but I have had a lot on the go lately. I will try to get it updated after today so we have the most recent total. Our goal has actually changed a bit because of changes to the budget, but we are very close to reaching our goal! Stay tuned!!
